In other, "it's a small world" news, I pedaled the first part of the day with Sooner Rick (he's from Oklahoma). As it turns out, his best friend, college roommate, and business partner, is the father of a girl that I graduated high school with. Just to keep it in perspective, I was one of only 93 in my graduating class. We had a nice chat about their business, my high school, and a bunch of other stuff that really made the mileage seem to dissapear.
Anyway, back to the ride. Aside from the kicking tailwind, I think that everyone was excited to reach the official halfway point of our trip from a mileage standpoint. It's hard to believe that just a few short weeks ago I was in San Francisco, and now I am in the place where former president, Dwight D. Eisenhower, was raised.
After a quick lunch, I was on cruise control for 1.5 miles to the hotel. After checking in, I hit the pool and did a nice long water stretch to try and make sure that I am adequately prepared for the second half of the cross country challenge!

Johnny, Remember the famous Irish proverb...
ReplyDelete"May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand."
Travel safe (hope for a lot of line #2). I love you and I miss you (I'm focusing on #s 5 & 6). Love, D
